There are many different types of accommodation in Kathmandu — from fancy hotels in Thamel to simple guesthouses hidden in quiet alleys. But if you wish to experience everyday life in a Nepali neighbourhood, away from the tourist rush, our home might be the right place for you.
Staying with us means sharing daily life, meals, and stories. You won’t just visit Nepal — you’ll become part of a small, welcoming family that lives, eats, and laughs together.

Our Home in Kathmandu

The rooms.
Our flat is located on the second floor of a family house in a quiet residential area. Below us live two lovely Nepali families; above us, our landlord. Together, we share the rooftop where everyone enjoys sunshine and fresh air.
We have three bedrooms — two of them for our guests — plus a small community room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Each bedroom has two single beds, a shelf, and enough space to relax after a long day in Kathmandu. The beds are firm and traditional — different from what you might be used to, but surprisingly comfortable after a few nights.

The community room.
This is the heart of our home. We share breakfast and dinner here, sitting on the floor with cushions, the Nepali way.
Here, we talk about the day, make new plans, and sometimes just enjoy the quiet together. Laughter often fills the room, sometimes mixed with the smell of tea or freshly cooked dal bhat.
It’s a place where everyone feels seen and included, no matter where they come from. This space turns strangers into friends — it’s where our little family grows every day.

The kitchen.
Our kitchen is small but full of life. You are always welcome to prepare something for yourself or join us while cooking Nepali food. The stove runs on gas, and a water dispenser provides clean, filtered water.
Rajeev and Vishal love to share their recipes — from spicy dal bhat to sweet chiya — and cooking together often ends in laughter and new friendships. Sometimes music plays softly in the background, and stories are exchanged while chopping vegetables. The kitchen isn’t just a place to cook — it’s where cultures meet, and simple meals turn into shared memories.

The rooftop
On sunny days, you can relax here with a book, dry your clothes, or simply watch daily life unfold below. From our roof, you can see the colourful houses of Kathmandu, the ring of hills around the valley, and on clear days even the distant Himalayas.
In the late afternoon, when the light turns golden and the city sounds soften, this place becomes pure peace. You might hear children laughing in the alleys, the call of a street vendor, or a dog barking in the distance. Sitting up here with a cup of tea, you’ll feel both far away and right in the middle of life — a quiet reminder of why Nepal touches so many hearts.
A place you feel home

Living together like a family.
Our home works like a homestay — everyone helps, everyone shares. We eat the same food, spend time together, and look after each other.
There will be days when you feel tired, overwhelmed, or homesick — that’s when community matters most. You’ll always have people around who listen, encourage, and make you smile again.

Life Beyond Thamel

Our neighbourhood.
We chose not to live in Thamel, the busy tourist district, but in a peaceful area where guests can experience authentic Nepali life. You’ll meet shopkeepers, children walking to school, and neighbours who always have time for a smile.
From here, Boudhanath Stupa is just a short walk or bus ride away — close enough to visit, yet far enough to return to calm streets afterward. You’ll be surrounded by temples, tea stalls, and the rhythm of everyday Kathmandu — no filters, no staging, just real life unfolding around you.
